Project: Content Marketing (Email Newsletter)
The United Nations declared 2012 the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC), in celebration of cooperatives’ positive economic impact around the globe. These member-owned businesses are social enterprises with a set of shared values and an inherent commitment to their communities. In the US alone, 29,000 co-ops operate today across every major sector of the economy, including agriculture, food, childcare, credit unions, energy, healthcare, housing, and retail.
As the oldest and largest national cross-sector association for cooperatives, the National Cooperative Business Association (now NCBA CLUSA International) helped lead the celebration of IYC in the US. The organization planned a series of initiatives in 2012 to draw attention to the International Year of Cooperatives and showcase the many ways in which co-ops positively impact our economy.
As a key component in its overall communications strategy for IYC, NCBA published a monthly email newsletter focused on the International Year of Cooperatives. Throughout most of 2012, the Ignite newsletter showcased special events, programs, and initiatives that were being carried out by organizations all across the country to raise awareness of co-ops and their impact on our communities.
I researched and wrote the Ignite newsletter on a monthly basis – and selected the visuals to be used in each edition. I also regularly contributed to the newsletter’s editorial calendar.
