I’ve run communications for an international nonprofit and provided consulting services to numerous cause-driven organizations. I Understand the Challenges You Face
For 2 1/2 years, I served as US Communications Director for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP), one of the world’s largest international marine research programs. So I know firsthand how challenging it can be to run a successful nonprofit communications effort.
With a small staff and budget of $1/2 million, I leveraged a variety of communications tools and channels – including video, web, animation, social media, email, print, and events – to promote IODP and enhance its image worldwide.
During this time, I led a global brand messaging effort, oversaw the redesign and launch of a major new website (including the migration of more than 20 years of content), and delivered integrated shipboard communications (blogging, Facebook, Twitter, and live video broadcasts) as Outreach Officer on the scientific research vessel, JOIDES Resolution.
