The Power to Persuade
That’s what I give my clients.
As a brand and content marketer, conversion copywriter, and persuasive communications coach, I help nonprofits and commercial businesses build engaging, profitable connections with prospects, clients, and key stakeholders through the power of great storytelling.
From Nonprofit Branding to High Tech Business Development
During my career, I’ve worked for entrepreneurial start-ups, nonprofits, and large corporations, and have held a variety of positions in marketing, business development, and communications.
I’ve worked extensively in services marketing and nonprofit communications. A few years ago, I served as US Director of Communications for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program, a major international marine research program with 20+ member countries. While in this role, I was fortunate to be asked to lead a global branding initiative sponsored by the US National Science Foundation. In just 6 short months we successfully engaged over 150 stakeholders worldwide, through focus groups and an online survey, leading to a new brand name: the International Ocean Discovery Program. This branding effort was directly credited with helping generate an additional $350 million in funding.
In addition, I leveraged multiple communications channels – including web, social media, video, print, and events – to promote IODP and enhance our brand image worldwide. As a consultant, I’ve also provided marketing and communications services to nonprofit organizations across a variety of sectors, including economic development and environmental conservation.
My 15+ years of experience in high tech spans hardware, software, services, and consulting, and covers a wide range of industry sectors – from telecom and satellites, to computer hardware and software. During my tenure on Manugistics’ High Tech Leadership Team in the early 2000s, we scored a series of high profile supply chain management software wins with the likes of Cisco Systems, 3Com, Texas Instruments, and Juniper Networks, growing our team’s portion of software license revenue from less than 1% of the corporate total to over 15% in under three years.
Crafting Stories That Sell
In 2001, I founded my consulting firm, Power2Persuade, to help clients shape compelling, memorable stories that sell. Since then, I’ve worked with numerous companies and nonprofit organizations, helping them re-envision how they tell their story and connect with customers and key stakeholders both online and off.
Trained originally as a writer and actress (I earned a BA in English and a BFA in Theatre from Southern Methodist University), I’ve spent my entire career adapting and honing my communications skills to the business arena (later, I received an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business).
As a persuasive communications speaker, author, and coach, I empower my clients to sell themselves, their ideas, their products and causes through winning Persuasive Encounters. Over the course of my career, I’ve spoken before audiences large and small for such organizations as Cisco Systems, IBM, Thunderbird, Kastle Systems, Society of Automotive Engineers, MIT Enterprise Forum, Institute of Real Estate Management, and US Department of Treasury.
My current and previous clients include Acumen Solutions, Bank of America, BroadSoft, Cooperative Development Foundation, Ecosystems, Evolve Marketing, Kastle Systems, Manugistics (now JDA Software), Mid-Atlantic Venture Association, Neustar, National Cooperative Business Association, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Paula Grace Designs, Tendo Communications, and TMA Resources.
